Malaysian tea country at 1,500 metres — BOH plantations combed into the hillsides, strawberry farms and a mossy cloud forest on the ridge. The rest of the day is free to settle in.     Cameron Highlands to Ipoh

    Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Leave for Ipoh — an 85 km, two-hour climb up the Simpang Pulai road. A limestone-ringed tin town of cave temples, white-coffee shops and an unfinished Scottish castle. Check in on arrival and, as the day allows, the Sam Poh Tong and Perak Tong cave temples. Overnight in Ipoh.

    Ipoh to Penang

    Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Leave for Penang — a 165 km, two-hour drive. George Town, a UNESCO World Heritage port of clan houses, street murals and jetty villages, with the beach strip of Batu Ferringhi a short drive north. Check in on arrival and, as the day allows, the George Town heritage core and its famous street murals. Overnight in Penang.
