    Arrival and transfer to Kota Kinabalu

    Arrive at Kota Kinabalu International Airport. Clear immigration and baggage, meet our representative and transfer to your hotel in Kota Kinabalu. The west-coast capital of Sabah under Mount Kinabalu, with reef islands twenty minutes offshore and a sunset market on the waterfront. The rest of the day is free to settle in. Overnight in Kota Kinabalu.

    Day 2

    Kota Kinabalu: Tunku Abdul Rahman marine park islands of Manukan, Sapi and Mamutik

    Breakfast at the hotel. A full day in Kota Kinabalu — the Tunku Abdul Rahman marine park islands of Manukan, Sapi and Mamutik; the Mari Mari Cultural Village; and the Kota Kinabalu City Mosque and Signal Hill observatory. The evening is free for dinner and a walk on your own. Overnight in Kota Kinabalu.

    Kota Kinabalu to Kundasang

    Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Leave for Kundasang — a 90 km, two-hour drive into the Crocker Range. The alpine shoulder of Mount Kinabalu — vegetable terraces, a war memorial garden and genuinely cold nights. Check in on arrival and, as the day allows, Kinabalu Park headquarters and its botanical garden. Overnight in Kundasang.

    Kundasang to Sandakan

    Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Leave for Sandakan — a 230 km, four-hour drive east. The wildlife coast of Borneo — orangutans, sun bears, proboscis monkeys and the slow brown Kinabatangan. Check in on arrival and, as the day allows, the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre feeding. Overnight in Sandakan.

    Sandakan: Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre

    Breakfast at the hotel. A full day in Sandakan — the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, the Rainforest Discovery Centre canopy walk and a Kinabatangan river wildlife cruise. The evening is free for dinner and a walk on your own. Overnight in Sandakan.

    Day 6

    Sandakan to Semporna

    Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Leave for Semporna — a 240 km, four-and-a-half-hour drive south. The jump-off for Sipadan, Mabul and Kapalai, where Bajau Laut stilt villages stand over impossibly clear water. Check in on arrival and, as the day allows, an island-hopping day to Mabul and Kapalai. Overnight in Semporna.

    Semporna: Snorkelling at Bohey Dulang and Sibuan in the Tun Sakaran marine park

    Breakfast at the hotel. A full day in Semporna — snorkelling at Bohey Dulang and Sibuan in the Tun Sakaran marine park; the Bajau Laut stilt villages and a sunset over the reef; and an island-hopping day to Mabul and Kapalai. The evening is free for dinner and a walk on your own. Overnight in Semporna.

    Semporna — departure

    Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Time for any last shopping before your transfer to Tawau Airport for the onward flight. The tour ends here, and we hope it is not your last visit to Malaysia.

  • All airport, inter-city and sightseeing transfers by private air-conditioned vehicle with an English-speaking driver.
  • Domestic flight and ferry tickets between the towns of the itinerary where the route calls for them.
  • All road tolls, inter-state charges, parking, fuel and driver allowances.
  • A local representative on arrival and 24x7 coordination from the Malaysia destination desk.

  • International airfare to and from Malaysia, and airport taxes on it.
